Pre-Reading Worksheet

What makes a book different when it is written in first-person? what does

this point-of-view add to the story? what are some problems with this POV?

When i read (on rare occasions) i like to really get into my book. I like to try to feel the

emotions that the main character feels throughout the book. When the book is written in first-

person, i fell a deeper connection with the character, like i am the character itself. When a book is

written in third-person, i feel more like an omnipotent presence and can't feel a connection on

the same level as the people in the books. I like to have to asssume the other characters emotion

and not just know all of what they feel. It feels more like real life when i dont know what

everyone is thinking because on a daily basis, i have to guess what others think and all i can do is

have my own emotions. I feel like i have more control on the story when I'm reading in first-

person and whatever the outcome may be, I feel that the story keeps on going past what the

ending is more then i do when I read stories in third-person. I'd rather feel like im living a story

then be told a story. The problem with first-person POV is that you may feel that there is more

to the story and you arent given all the detail. i believe that, that just makes it feel more life-like

and we get to come up with our own conclusions on others emotions. First-person is the most

impactful point of view in my opinion.
